While the rest of the world debated the merits of fast-moving versus slow-moving zombies, the ghouls from the Yacht Club collaborated with park staff members Ramon and Keyonna to transform the Glassell Park Rec Center for a Halloween celebration. What felt like 1,000s but was only nearly 100 local children paraded around the foggy, cobweb-filled gym in costumes, collecting candy and engaging in numerous spooky activities.
This Saturday is “Journey: LA”, a free street game which takes place this year in Glassell Park on Saturday May 5th.
Versions of this race happen every year in San Francisco, Munich, London, D.C., and Paris. Runners sneak through the city, completing challenges at challenges along the way, and most importantly avoiding getting tagged by Chasers. Like in a Zombie Run, any runner tagged by a Chaser becomes a Chaser, so usually only 10% of Runners ever “survive”, and often the race goes to the sneakiest rather than just the fastest.
Prizes go to the first Runners to make it through every checkpoint, and to the most successful Chasers.
FYI, the tall gangly looking Yacht Club member, Andrew Post is volunteering/giving out free hi-fives at one of the checkpoints.

“Streets are for People!”
Well at least they are tomorrow, as metered curbside parking spaces near our office are being turned into urban parks on Spring Street between 6th & 7th.
If you’re around tomorrow come check this out, we’ll be there for sure.
We hosted screen printing with somewhere between 1 and 2 bajillion kids at Glassell Rec the other night.
